Welcome back

We appear to be starting 2022 in a similar way to 2021, COVID still lingering in the air. I am delighted that the decision to keep schools open has been made, especially at a time when our Year 13 students sitting external exams for the first time.

During our INSED day today I talked to staff our our ethos; Looking forward, Looking outward, Taking Action. We are putting an increased emphasis on ‘Taking action’ this term. Specifically our expectation that students take an increased ownership of their learning. Opportunities must be seized, questions asked, challenges undertaken. In doing so students build resilience and self reliance; skills that are invaluable in life. I look forward to sharing our progress with you in the coming months.

As I am sure you will have noticed in the media, we return to mass testing and masks in classes. Thank you in advance for your support with this, I know it is not always easy. I am pleased to report that we have no staff absence currently (long may this continue).

Finally from me, a brief reminder about upcoming parent events. Year 11 subject meetings next Thursday, you should have received details on this along with your child’s report just before Christmas. We will also be holding meetings with key students in Year 13 to discuss academic progress and concerns next week.

All that remains is for me to wish you a Happy New Year.
