Support

Over the last two weeks we have played host to staff from City Academy and Reach Academy as part of our continued quality assurance. I am pleased to report the hugely positive comments that were made with regard for the provision for students here at Logic. Of particular note was the ‘calm and purposeful environment in which the students work’ and the ‘excellent pastoral provision and support for students’. As ever I am thankful to both the students and our staff for their tireless focus.

This week has marked the start of mock week for Year 11 and 13. It serves as a good reminder to students in Year 10 and 12 that these periods of pressure will come around very quickly.

Externally moderated exams have not taken place in this country since 2019, as a result, all students sitting exams this year are doing so for the first time in their lives. This is a particularly stressful time for all involved: staff ensuring students are fully prepared, students having to learn to quickly recall a wide range of facts for application and parents in knowing how best to support their children. It is important to remember that we are all here to support each other towards the common goal of absolute success.

My messages are simple.

Parents, you are not alone, we are here to support you too. You are at your best when you are championing your child. Praise and reward their efforts. If you can see things are getting too much try to find an outside activity with your child. Try going for a walk and not talking about exams.

Students, focused revision is great, endless revision is not. Set goals to work for 20 minute bursts before short breaks. Also, give your phone to another adult (or leave it in another room) whilst you work.

Staff, use these mock exams to focus your teaching on the areas you have identified as common misconceptions.

Finally, I have been truly grateful to those parents that have been in to meet with us this week. You help to make Logic what it is. I extend this open offer to all parents; we stand ready to help in any way we can.
