Project Based Learning visit to Premier Inn Heathrow

As part of our half termly Project Based Learning week (PBL) year 10 visited various local businesses to find out about the type of careers offered within the business and learn about how the business is run.

A group of 14 students accompanied by Mrs Dupuy and Mr Coles visited Premier Inn Heathrow T5 where Bradley, one of the managers gave us a tour of the hotel, including a behind the scenes look at how the housekeeping staff and the kitchen staff work. We were fascinated to hear that this Premier Inn have secured a lucrative contract with British Airways to provide hotel rooms for their pilots and cabin crew. We were told how all the different departments of the hotel have to work together to ensure that all the rooms are ready and cleaned for the next guests, who could arrive at any time of day or night.

After the tour of the hotel, we split into small groups to meet some of the managers of the different departments and students got to ask questions of the managers. The visit has prompted year 10 to think about the different array of careers that are out there, with some students keen to learn more about the hospitality sector and others realising that they definitely didn’t want to work in hospitality. We are really proud that so many of our students are already thinking about the future and the direction they would like their career to go.

Thank you to Premier Inn for making the day such a success.
