RE: Year 13 Assessment and Mock Week – WB November 24th and December 1st 2025
As part of our preparation for A Level and BTEC exams this year, students will be undertaking formal
assessments from Monday November 24th to Friday December 5th 2025.
For A Level students, these assessments will focus on students’ understanding of content covered to this
point in a format that will be similar to their final exams. Assessments will take place in all A Level subjects.
For BTEC students, there will be more formal Mock exams in the subjects below in preparation for the
external exams taking place in January. This applies to the following units:
● Business Unit 3 – Personal Finance.
● Business Unit 6 – Leadership and Management.
● IT Unit 1 – Information Systems.
More specific details regarding these assessments can be found below, with a timetable for all assessments
and mock exams overleaf:
● A Level assessments will take place during identified normal lesson time for those subjects and will
last no more than 1 hour 40 minutes.
● Assessments will take place in classrooms under normal exam conditions.
● The BTEC Mock Exams will take place outside of specific lesson times on the day and time identified.
● Business Unit 6 will be conducted on computers at Logic and last 3 hours. Business Unit 3 and IT
Unit 1 will take place in the gym at Springwest and each lasts 2 hours. This will mirror the exams in
January.
● Students with Access Arrangements will need to make use of these during these assessments or risk
these being removed before the formal exam period. (This is based on new guidance from the exam
boards).
● If a student misses an exam, they will need to complete this during the catch up slot as agreed with
their subject teacher.
These exams are vital for your child and we expect all students to prepare effectively so that they can
achieve their potential. Staff have spent time providing resources and support for students, both in lessons
and during our recent PD week. Additional preparation materials and exam content is available on the
Google classroom for each subject. They should be using the Reduce – Recall – Reapply technique to revise.
Can I also highlight our Parents Evening which takes place Tuesday December 16th for all Year 13 students
and parents / carers. This will be an opportunity for you to meet with individual subject teachers and
discuss the results your child achieved in their assessments, as well as what they need to focus on to
prepare for their future exams.
