Hot Weather

With the incoming heatwave we need to update you on our plans for keeping your child safe at this time. Please note that all arrangements will be kept under close review, but that our default position is that we want your children to be in school safely.

At this time of year 50% of our students have already left for the summer. This gives us more space to operate as a school.

Dress Code

We are relaxing the dress code for students and staff and are recommending loose fitting, professional clothing. Essentially for boys this means not football shirts, for girls this means no exposed shoulders. Students should not be wearing tracksuits which would be even warmer to wear than normal school attire.

School Day

We had calendared to finish at 3:10pm on Tuesday and will finish at 4pm on Wednesday and Thursday. Students will remain indoors at break and lunch in air conditioned rooms.

Be Prepared

All students should have a water bottle on them and we would strongly advise hats and sun cream for the journey home. Please consider transport routes carefully and check for disruption before leaving.

Water Safety

As I included in a recent parent bulletin, it is vital that students keep themselves safe around water and only seek to swim in areas that are properly lifeguarded, i.e. do not swim in the river or in open water.

We will continue to monitor the conditions in the school carefully and should we feel that the environment is unsafe we will review our arrangements.

We are aware that many schools are taking different decisions at this time as the respond to the unique circumstances of their building.
