- Assessments have also been structured in a way that allows students to build on knowledge and skills systematically, ranging from recall tests, moving to smaller questions and then onto larger essay based questions.
- A range of ‘Do Now’ activities are used at the start of every lesson and focus on knowledge recall and help embed knowledge into their long term memory.
- Sociology has its own specialist vocabulary. Students will be slowly introduced to specialist vocabulary and pushed to develop their academic writing ability.
- Students will be expected to read regularly in class with reference to Logic’s emphasis on literacy. Texts will be focused on sociological issues, perspectives and the social world. Texts will be a range of non-fiction reading including excerpts from Sociologist’s work and journalism.
- We model how to answer exam questions and slowly build up towards the extended answers embedding Logic’s literacy strategy.
- There is a high-accountability expectation of 2-3 hours Prep to be completed / week. This may involve consolidation of previous learning or exam practice.
