Dear Parent / Carer
RE: Year 11 Assessment Week – December 2025
As part of our preparation for GCSE Exams next Summer, students will be undertaking formal assessments
from December 1st – 5th 2025. These will assess students’ understanding of content covered to this point in
a format that will be similar to students’ final exams.
More specific details regarding these assessments can be found below:
● Assessments will take place every morning, with an additional assessment on Monday afternoon.
● Students should arrive on site as normal for a 9am start and go directly to their Prep room for a
revision session. Assessments will start during Period 2.
● Assessments will take place in classrooms under normal exam conditions.
● Assessments will last for a maximum of one hour.
● Students with Access Arrangements will need to make use of these during these assessments or risk
these being removed before the summer exam period. (This is based on new guidance from the
exam boards).
● Students will then return to normal lessons after breaktime.
● If a student misses an exam, they will need to complete this during the catch up slot on Friday
morning. Other students will leave after Friday morning’s exam.
● The exams will be as follows:
○ Monday AM – History
○ Monday PM – Business (2.30pm start)
○ Tuesday – Computer Science (VTI) or Physics
○ Wednesday – English
○ Thursday – Maths
○ Friday – Computer Science (AAS), Geography or Spanish.
○ Friday P4&5 – Catch up Slot
Students have attended Revision Carousels, which explained the upcoming exams and the revision
technique, Reduce – Recall – Reapply that they should use to revise. This has been modelled by their subject
teachers and practiced in lessons. Students have access to all revision material and Reduce – Recall –
Reapply instructions on the ‘2025-26 Year 11 Revision’ Google Classroom.
After school subject Intervention is taking place weekly in English, Maths and Physics with a number of
students. If your child has been invited for a session, we encourage them to attend, as this forms an integral
part of their learning.
Thank you for your support of your child. By working together, we hope we can support your child to exam
success later this year.
Yours faithfully,
John Cadogan
Vice Principal
