Advice on clearing 2023

With just a week to go until results day the media is reporting that university clearing is anticipated to be busy this year. The head of UCAS has stated that “highly selective courses” would “go quite quickly”.

Knowing that stories like this can quickly, and unnecessarily, cause panic, I wanted to remind those of you applying for university of the following:

  • The vast majority of you will get your first or second choice place
  • Staff will be on hand to support anyone in need of a place through clearing from 9am

The support that we offer does not simply stop at the end of Year 13, we will continue to support all of our students to successful final destinations.

If you have concerns about whether you will receive the grades you need for your university place we would strongly advise that you familiarise yourself with the clearing process. You will need to be ready to make decisions quickly on the day should you want to pursue a place through clearing this year. We strongly advise that you read the information from UCAS here. After this, you should begin looking for courses that are currently available through clearing here

For reference, in August 2022 4 out of 104 students went through clearing, three had secured a place by 10:30 on results day and the final one did so the following day.

Finally, as a reminder to all of our students (university destination or otherwise), we are here to help you with your future. If you need us please reach out.
