We recently had the amazing opportunity to visit Parliament as part of the Student Union. It was a fantastic experience and gave us the chance to learn more about how Parliament works and why it plays such an important role in the UK.
During our visit, we had a guided tour of the historic building of Westminster Hall and the Chambers, and learned about the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as well as how laws are debated and passed. It was amazing to see such an iconic place in person and hear about its history.
We also had the amazing privilege of meeting our local MP, Seema Malhotra. We had the chance to ask questions about her role, how she represents our local community, and what inspired her to get involved in politics. It was really interesting to hear about her experiences and learn more about the work they do.
The visit made us think about our own roles as Student Union Representatives. It reminded us how important it is to listen to the voices of other students, represent them fairly, and make a positive difference in our school community.
We are very grateful for this opportunity and will remember it for a long time.
