TIK Tok Concerns relating to Self Harm affecting Children
and Young People. This information has been shared with all schools across London and the South East and is not specific to any concerns we have in this area or at our school. But, we feel it is important that this information is shared with you at this time.
This concern relates specifically to the potential of previous and possible current connections, with two individuals and a TikTok account which children and young people may be following.
One of the individuals has approximately 3,000 followers on TikTok and appears keen to maintain this following, which may be a motivating factor for them to engage with vulnerable young people and encourage self harm in children and young people.
Action suggested:
● Check your child’s phone and use and their engagement with online platforms.
● Talk to your child about their phone usage and how to stay safe online.
