Year 12 return to school in June – Update
I am sure you have now heard that the government have issued new guidance about the reopening of schools on 1st June. In essence, this means that we are not able to open until 15th June and – when we do – we are only allowed 25% of Year 10 and 12 students on site at any one time. Thank you in advance for continuing to support your child with their distance learning.
This means that we have had to adapt our plans as below:
Our priority is to ensure all Year 12 can see their Prep tutors for a face-to-face meeting. As such, transition interviews will take place in the week beginning 15th June. In these meetings, tutors will speak to students about their post-16 options, including UCAS, and assess any students who need access to IT facilities for Computing or Creative Media. Whilst we cannot now provide access for everyone, Mr Fishwick will put plans in place for those who need to come to school.
Transition interviews will take place in the afternoons on Monday 15th, Tuesday 16th and Wednesday 17th June and all day on Thursday 18th and Friday 19th June.
Once we have a clear indication of which students intend to apply to university, Mr Coles will start running workshops and presentations on Fridays to inform and support students through the UCAS procedure.
The students in Year 12 who have been invited in by Mr Fishwick for additional support, should still come in as planned from 15th June.
Virtual lessons in all subjects will continue for Year 12 students from Monday June 1st, in the same format as they have done since Easter. Students should continue with their current timetable. The engagement of Year 12 students has so far been excellent and we are confident this will continue to be the case.
Thank you in advance for continuing to support your child with their distance learning.
